Andrew Sayles

Andrew Sayles is a litigator with more than twenty years of experience representing insurers, major institutional clients, businesses, professionals, and individuals in complex civil matters. Before founding MSR Legal, Andrew practiced for many years at Connell Foley LLP, where he became a partner and developed substantial experience in professional liability, commercial litigation, class actions, and general-liability matters. His current practice includes insurance defense, commercial litigation, professional liability, consumer litigation, and class actions.

Andrew’s insurance-defense practice includes professional liability, errors and omissions, general and specialty liability, premises liability, and significant personal-injury claims. He regularly represents attorneys, law firms, licensed professionals, businesses, property owners, and public and private institutions. He works closely with insurers and insureds to evaluate liability and damages, develop litigation strategy, and pursue effective resolution.

Andrew also handles commercial disputes involving contracts, business torts, fraud, construction matters, restrictive covenants, and indemnification claims. Although much of his practice is defense-oriented, he represents businesses and individuals in selected affirmative matters, including significant commercial and personal-injury claims. He also advises companies regarding litigation risk, threatened claims, contractual issues, consumer-law compliance, and dispute avoidance.

A substantial portion of Andrew’s practice involves consumer litigation and class actions. He has defended clients in individual, statewide, and nationwide matters involving the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, TCCWNA, and New York General Business Law § 349. He also counsels businesses concerning compliance with consumer-protection laws and related litigation and regulatory risk.

Andrew’s experience further includes appellate advocacy before state and federal courts. He has argued matters before New Jersey’s Appellate Division, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and has represented clients in matters involving the Supreme Court of the United States, the Supreme Court of New Jersey, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Andrew serves on the Board of Directors of the Professional Liability Defense Federation (PLDF) and previously chaired its Lawyers Professional Liability Committee. He is also a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC). He frequently speaks at professional programs and has authored articles on professional liability, consumer law, class actions, and litigation strategy.

Andrew graduated cum laude from Syracuse University with degrees in Political Science and International Relations and received his law degree from Syracuse University College of Law. He is a graduate of the ABOTA Trial College and has been recognized by New Jersey Super Lawyers as both a Rising Star and a Super Lawyer. In 2019, the New Jersey Law Journal named him a New Leader of the Bar.
